Minimum standards Empty Minimum standards

I read that the minister for planning (and possibly the environment), Senator Cohen has said the minimum space for a one bedroom flat will now be 10% more than the previous 450 square feet. Apparently some people have been using the fact that regulations for lodging houses require less space than new flats, and have been building as lodging houses and then changing use to residential. This is to be tightened up.

Senator Cohen also said that the policy could be updated next year when St Brelade Deputy Sean Power implements recommendations in a Design of Homes report. Now call me old fashioned, but doesn't the Deputy actually have to be re-elected next month before he can do that? Or are the results already known to the omniscient and infallable minister?
