Senator Jim Perchard successfully challenged for the position of Health Minister in the States today.
The former Assistant Health Minister was elected by 31 votes to 21, after a contest with Senator Paul Routier, the former Employment and Social Security Minister, who had been proposed by Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur.

The House are sitting today to elect Ministers and chairmen of committees and scrutiny panels.
Candidates were proposed by Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur, although it was made clear this morning that many of the seats would be challenged.
Senator Le Sueur’s proposals were: Treasury: Philip Ozouf. Economic Development: Alan Maclean. Environment: Freddie Cohen. Health: Paul Routier. Home Affairs: Ian Le Marquand. Social Security: Ian Gorst. Education: James Reed. Transport and Technical Services: Mike Jackson. Housing: Terry Le Main.
This afternoon, Senator Le Sueur said that in view of the result for Health, he intended to propose Senator Routier as Education Minister instead of Deputy Reed. (from thisisjersey)
