Re: Maurice Kirk
He got into really hot water over in the States, he tried to land on President Bush's lawn to thank him for the coast guard rescuing him earlier last year after ditching in the sea.
He got thrown into a lunatic asylum. I can't think of a place more suited to him.

Re: Maurice Kirk
When i was younger i stayed at his house which he used to rent out rooms at a cheap rate . I always got on OK with him he was quite a clever man , the only problem he had was he was against the establishment LOL.
The house was a mess "basic" an understatement but that's all i could afford at that time ,he even started to build a fall-out shelter in the back garden :-) .
I got back one day to find banners right across the front of the house with some of the masons names on . The police were always around the property in fact there was a police car stationed in the front garden . I would not say that Maurice was mad just misunderstood :-) .
Here is just one of the many banners !

Re: Maurice Kirk
I remember him well. Went with my best mate to buy a car from him (He used to sell them from his back garden). It was a canary yellow Fiat 127 and he said he would guarantee it to the end of the drive. My mates mum criticised the state of the car and he threatened to sue her for slander. All very tongue in cheek and funny at the time.
I also remember a famous spat between him and Mike Le Moignan (The then Chief of Police) who had ordered him to move his car that he had parked in the No Waiting area in front of the court / law offices. Mike hadn't realised that Maurice had just been banned from driving as he was leaving the court building. Maurice was determined to do as the Mike ordered him (despite just being banned) and the mischief that ensued once Mike had been informed of the ban by the court inspector was hillarious.
Obviously very clever, but doesn't really use this to the best effect.

Re: Maurice Kirk
He can still bring a smile with some of his antics. Just as well that he is no longer resident in Guernsey.

Re: Maurice Kirk
MK was very clever and played the system. He researched and then set the traps. His parking space outside the court was actually legal for some time because of the way the no waiting sign was positioned. It left just enough space between the sign and the corner to park a car whilst the no waiting arrow pointed away from the corner, obvious what it meant but not specific. When the court told him he had to report daily at 6pm to the police station he argued that being a vet he could not guarantee he would be there at 6pm so they said he had to report each day. So at 11:59pm he would roll in report walk out and return at 12:01am, basically one visit covering two days thank you, very clever. His date of birth was almost unique. I would have liked to see him in the states it would have shook them up and they certainly would have earned their money.
