Fuel prices not dropping !
It seems that Dave Jones has hit out on fuel distributors on what they are charging , he says that the price of fuel has dropped world wide and here in the island the prices have not been lowered . He says that we are being ripped off again and if this was the uk there would be uproar .
Do you agree ?

Re: Fuel prices not dropping !
mmm heating oil goes up 3.5p per litre tommorow, from what I understand most of this is because of "shipping costs"
Looks like the States have found another wax to "Tax" the public...

Re: Fuel prices not dropping !
Fuel suppliers in Guernsey are not passing on all price cuts to consumers, a politician has claimed.
Deputy Dave Jones said the price of a litre of petrol or diesel was too high, and has called for an inquiry into the cost of fuel.
The housing minister said companies had been quick to raise prices when crude oil went up, but very slow to bring them down after the price dropped.
He said high fuel costs affected all aspects of island life.
'In depth investigation'
"It's inflationary for business because they have to transport their goods and it's also inflationary in terms of transport costs for shipping and aircraft," he told BBC News.
"I believe we need to have another in depth investigation into the fuel companies in Guernsey to see whether they are are actually profiteering or not."
At its peak last summer, the cost of a barrel of crude oil was more than $140 - this has now fallen to under $40.
No-one from Fuel Supplies (CI) Limited was available to comment

Re: Fuel prices not dropping !
Does deputy gobsh*te realise that 14p on a litre of petrol ,and 29p on a litre of diesel is the road tax that him and his cronies decided to add on the fuel prices last year.
That takes it down to about 50p for petrol and 47 for diesel, not much difference from a couple of years ago, when we paid road tax, and crude was around the price it is now.
IMO , its just Jones wanting to be the big man fighting for the local people, or thats what he wants us to think, where in reality it is because he has a big mouth and needs to remind us of that fact on an all too regular basis.

Re: Fuel prices not dropping !
FUEL companies operating in Guernsey should have to pay an annual fee after the States secured the supply of their products to the island by purchasing two tankers, Deputy Barry Brehaut said yesterday.
He is to place an amendment at this month’s States meeting when members debate the Policy Council’s decision to exceed its mandate and buy the two ships without prior approval.
The amendment will ask deputies to instruct the relevant authorities to investigate charging the three companies that handle oil products - Total, Rubis/Fuel Supplies and Guernsey Petroleum Distributors - a yearly fee because they all benefit from the States’ decision to buy the tankers.
‘Government is purchasing two tankers for strategic reasons, but in doing so they gave security to the businesses that import fuel and distribute it locally,’ Deputy Brehaut said.
‘Under my proposal, the three companies involved would pay a flat annual fee to the States. It could be described as a fee for the maintenance of a contract, for example.’ (from thisisguernsey)
Another Tax!!
