Sarks Island's ferry company investment .
The Isle of Sark Shipping Company is to receive hundreds of
thousands of pounds worth of investment from the Channel Island's new
government. [/b]
The passenger and cargo ferry service between Sark and Guernsey has been in operation for 40 years.
The newly-elected Chief Pleas approved a £335,000 funding package to help the day-to-day running of the service.
The ferry company announced on Wednesday it was revising its fares and introducing a new family ticket.
The single fare will now be half the price of a return.
The Sark-owned company, which operates a year-round passenger and
freight service to Guernsey, carries about 55,000 return passengers and
4,000 tonnes of cargo a year.
With no airport on the island, the only link is by sea.
Do you think it is wise to keep throwing money at this ?

Re: Sarks Island's ferry company investment .
what good is a single fare unless you are leaving sark for good.they should be looking at charging reasonable fares and then they might just become profitable as the boats may once again be full.will i be spending over £25 for a day trip to sark .no way.a family ticket 2 adults and two children is going to be £60 and that is before the cost of lunch, drinks, snacks, icecreams etc.
