Don’t use Co-op car park, school-run parents are told Empty Don’t use Co-op car park, school-run parents are told

THE Co-op has warned school-run parents not to park at its Grand Marché store after they were banned from stopping on Wellington Road when collecting their children.
Parents reacted angrily on Monday when the honorary police launched a crackdown on parents who park on the S-bend outside De La Salle following concerns over road safety. Many said that the move had increased parking problems, with some claiming that they already had to arrive an hour before home time so that they could park in one of the few spaces within the school grounds.
And many others said that they had now been forced to park on yellow lines further down the road, on narrow residential streets or in the Grand Marché car park. But the Co-op yesterday warned that it was monitoring the number of cars at the shop and would take action against any parents who used the car park without shopping at the store.
Jim Plumley, Co-op marketing manager, said: ‘We do not have an issue with people using our car park if they are shopping in the store, but we do have a problem with people using the car park just to collect their children.’

I always wondered if the Co-op can prosecute someone who is a shareholder,

ie if you have a co-op div number then you are deemed to be a shareholder...

Would be interesting how the law would treat this...

Yes they absolutely can, and should.

This crackdown on illegal and dangerous parking is long, long overdue. I hope it's not just a short sharp shock, with things returning to normal in a few days.

THose parents who're angry are idiots, you park on a corner, blocking the road, on the zig-zags of a pedestrian crossing with two(or sometimes four) wheels on the pavement blocking the foot path outside a school; and get angry when somebody enforces the law? Retards.

We have the same in Guernsey, Vauvert and the Vale schools are just 2 examples, but they do not appear to be policed very often!
