Police may soon be armed with stun guns

Police officers could soon be armed with Taser stun guns.
Home Affairs Minister Ian Le Marquand has confirmed that his department are talking to the UK government about importing Tasers into the Island.
He says that it is ‘vitally important’ that the States of Jersey Police can use ‘less-lethal’ weapons to handle serious incidents.
Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary has recommended the use of Tasers to the police, in line with the European Convention on Human Rights (from thisisjersey)

Have Jersey police ever shot anybody by accident? So why more expensive toys for the boys in blue? Are we not trying to keep all depts. within budget?
