Pupils expelled from Catholic school after having sex
The college in Lancashire, which charges £22,000 a year, is believed to have asked the 16- and 17-year-old to leave after they were discovered in bed together by another pupil.
The boy and girl are understood to have admitted that they had met for sex unnoticed by staff several times previously.
The Jesuit college, which has around 440 pupils, including 133 boys and 71 girls in the sixth form, has 215 boys and 67 female boarders.
Former pupils include Arthur Conan Doyle, the author, and Kyran Bracken, the former England rugby player.
Andrew Johnson, the headmaster, said the incident was a private matter but confirmed: "A recent incident took place between two pupils at Stonyhurst college.
"The 16- and 17-year-old pupils have been asked to leave the college and the college now considers the matter closed."
Many of the boarders at the prestigious Jesuit college live overseas and Stonyhurst prides itself on its roots which are steeped in the history of the Roman Catholic Church, which warns against sex before marriage.
Mr Johnson added: "Stonyhurst promotes Catholic teaching on morality and relationships.
"If any individual falls short of the high standards we encourage, we take proportionate and timely action.
"Pastoral matters concerning individual pupils are, of course, entirely private."
The annual full boarding fees at the Ribble Valley College, which also has a co-education prep school St Mary's Hall, are £22,368 with weekly boarders, of which there are currently 10, paying £19,137 a year.
Stonyhurst is a co-educational Catholic boarding and day school guided by the principles of the Society of Jesus but also accepts people 'from other Christian traditions', and other faiths who are encouraged to play a full part in the spiritual life of the school. (from timesonline)

Re: Pupils expelled from Catholic school after having sex
I guess this fits in with traditional Catholic values i.e. only the teachers are allowed to have sex with the pupils..............

What a horrible thought. (I went to a convent school and the teachers were haggard old nuns.)
