Jersey Shop trading since 1896 to close
One of Jersey's oldest family-run businesses is to close with the loss of seven jobs. CT Maine, in King Street, St Helier, has traded as a jewellers and silversmith since 1896. Managing director Andrew Maine said the shop would close when the family retires from the trade after the Christmas period. Peter Pearce, of St Helier jewellers Pearce, told BBC Jersey it was very sad for local shops. Mr Pearce said: "The local shops are disappearing one-by-one falling foul of everything. "Maines will be another casualty and there's too many empty shops on the High Street already." (from BBC) Another local company disappears... |
