GIRLS as young as 12 are being prescribed the ‘morning-after’ pill after bingeing on alcohol the night before.
New research reveals a connection between the increase in the number of requests for the emergency contraceptive pill and the amount of alcohol that young girls are drinking at weekends.
Figures released to the JEP by health clinic Brook Jersey show that 89 per cent of requests for emergency contraception were alcohol-related.
And almost half of the morning-after pills prescribed were to girls aged 16 and under, which was a six per cent increase on the previous year. (from JEP)
