Graeme’s hour of darkness to help Jersey see the light
The lights went out last year on the La Collette chimney
JERSEYMAN Graeme Le Saux is inviting fellow Islanders to join him on the dark side later this month.
The former England footballer is campaigning on behalf of the World Wildlife Fund to encourage people to turn their lights off for an hour for its Earth Hour eco energy efficiency initiative on Saturday 27 March. The charity organises the event to raise awareness about climate change.
So far, 105 countries around the world have signed up, as well as 65 local authorities around Britain.
They have agreed to turn off lights on public buildings, while members of the public are going to plunge their homes into darkness between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm.
