Guernsey farmer numbers at all-time low
The number of farmers in Guernsey is at an all-time low, according to the latest figures from the States.
There are now 56 people working directly in the island's agriculture industry, which is a 20% fall over the past five years.
James Watts, from the Guernsey Farmers' Association, said it was down to those currently involved in the industry to attract more people to the job.
He said it was about making people understand the good sides of farming.
Mr Watts said: "We really need people of a very high calibre to become involved in the industry, I heard someone speak recently and he said 'you've got to make farming cool again' and that's it really." (from BBC)
