Police redeployed to St Helier as arrests rise
Officers have been redeployed to busy areas of St Helier after a rise in assault and public order arrests.
Insp Alan Williamson, responding to news of a busy holiday weekend for the service, said police have reacted to problems caused by night time trade.
He said officers had targeted key areas of the town at weekends and evenings.
The States of Jersey Police was said to be concerned that 30 arrests, including 20 for assaults or public order offences, were made over the weekend.
Insp Williamson said shift patterns and resources have been changed to allow more officers on the streets in St Helier. (from BBC)
