More road works.
Major road closures 'not ideal'
A member of Guernsey's Environment Department has said the timing of
two major road closures in the north of the island is "not ideal".
Baubigny Road has been closed for four months for traffic light
installation, for drainage work and for houses to be linked up to the
main sewage network. The work coincides with the closure of the adjacent Les Effards.
Deputy Chris Brock said the timing of the two closures was unfortunate but the works were necessary.
"Not ideal" that must be the understatement of the year so far. From what i have been told it was chaos around there today what with the Effards closed also it left drivers with no where to go. I know these things need to be done but a little thought would not have gone a miss.

Re: More road works.
i see the charrotterie is going to be closed for 9 weeks from today.travelling to town from st martins will be horrendous with all the extra traffic.it was always my understanding that major roadworks were not permitted during the summer season except in an emergency.

Re: More road works.
The Baubigny chaos (and other road closure problems) have been caused by the States resolution the put main drains in Baubigny immediately, even though this was against the advice of the engineers and traffic planners. If you want to blame someone, it is the fault of Ivan Rihoy and his supporters.

Re: More road works.
What makes me laugh though is La Charroterie. Thats closed for 9 weeks. Diversions being up Vicky Rd. Now on 5 July, Vicky Rd being closed as well for Millards 100 years event. More traffic through the one way systems of Allez St, George St, Union St etc,,,,,,
The states have their heads so far up their asses of the moment, they dont know what the hell roads are closed until it affects one of them!
