Minister of State to visit
Parliament's man in charge of the Crown Dependencies will be in Guernsey next week.
Lord McNally, Deputy Leader of the House of Lords, will also be touring Alderney and Sark and meeting their politicians next Thursday and Friday.
It will be Lord McNally's first visit to any of the Crown Dependencies since his appointment in May this year as the Minster of State whose responsibilities include the Crown Dependencies.
It is anticipated that the Minister of States outline programme will be as follows:-
The Sark visit will include an open invitation to Sark residents to meet Lord McNally in the Island Hall including a buffet lunch; a meeting with Chief Pleas Conseillers in the Assembly Room; and a brief Island tour before returning to Guernsey.
That evening, His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor will host a Dinner for Lord McNally.
On Friday morning Lord McNally will visit Alderney. He will be given a comprehensive Island tour before meeting Alderney States members and officials.
He will return to Guernsey in time to attend a Policy Council lunch hosted by the Chief Minister. The afternoon will be given over to briefings and discussions with ministers and officials. Lord McNally will depart for London on Friday evening.

Potentially, an excellent opportunity for the Islands to present themselves in a very positive light. What do you think?

Re: Minister of State to visit
Look what happened last time a Minister of State poked his nose into your affairs. The States got reorganised and centralised to give fewer representatives. This makes it easier for the UK government to lean on you.
So beware.
So beware.

Re: Minister of State to visit
The UK politician responsible for relations with the Channel Islands has started a two-day tour of the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
It is the first time the Minister of State, Lord McNally, has visited the islands since taking on the role after the general election in April.
During his visit he is due to visit Guernsey, Alderney and Sark.
He is also due to meet with Guernsey's Bailiff Sir Geoffrey Rowland and Guernsey States' Policy Council.
There will also be a dinner in his honour, hosted by the Queen's representative in the Bailiwick, the Lieutenant Governor Sir Fabian Malbon.
Let us hope that the visit is worthwile for us then, eh?
