Islands told: 'You are not being bullied' Empty Islands told: 'You are not being bullied'

The UK minister responsible for the Crown Dependencies has applauded the Channel Islands for setting up a Brussels office to talk directly to EU ministers and politicians.

Lord McNally has just finished a two-day visit to the Guernsey Bailiwick. He says the external pressures being felt by the islands on tax reform are a simple fact of life for all countries and that it's not a case of Jersey and Guernsey being bullied.

And Lord McNally says Sark needs to continue with restructing its administration in line with the Human Rights Law.

Meanwhile Jersey has represented itself for the first time at an EU Code of Conduct meeting on taxation.

International Affairs adviser Colin Powell and the island's director of international taxation Wendy Martin answered technical questions about Jersey's zero ten tax system and the island's personal tax anti-avoidance rules.

The code group will now decide if the issue needs to be addressed further at its next meeting in November.

Sounds all positive.... what do you think?
