CAN WE IMPORT BREAD FROM THE UK?
You want to know why local shops can't import bread from the UK…. Yesterday we told you that Warrys is putting it's prices up by around ten percent due to a worldwide increase in the cost of wheat - and then we received a flurry of texts suggesting bread should be imported instead, to keep costs down. We're now waiting for the Commerce and Employment Department to tell us what the situation is
taken from cable and wireless website
my reply is that imported bread is already in the islands m&s sell there own bread brought in from the uk and yes it is a little cheaper and a lot better than warrys bread x

The price of bread is going to go up no mater where you are due to problems in Russia. The cost of wheat is going up and it will be pased on to the customer.

Re: CAN WE IMPORT BREAD FROM THE UK?
You certainly don't want to import the dire stuff that passes for bread in the UK these days. Why don't you get proper bread from France via St Malo ?

Re: CAN WE IMPORT BREAD FROM THE UK?
maybe because the costs charged for bringing things in from france are too much or the fact that there isnt a regular enough service to bring bread in every day.forest stores does bring in french and alderney bread at the weekend x

The rolls from Senners Bakery and from the Portugese shop at the Track (can't think of the name!!) are both excellent products, so we do have some good local baked bread.

Re: CAN WE IMPORT BREAD FROM THE UK?
Forest stores imports daily from France and has done for at least 10 years. Bread, croissants etc. All excellent. It also imports UK bread, I think I've seen Flatchers on the shelves.
Credit where it is due so I'll do a bit more advertising for Denis and Keith and say that they import lots and their meat is rather good, good enough for a veggie to turn carnivorous!!!
