Jersey's Chief Minister has said the island's retirement age may have to increase to 70.
Senator Terry Le Sueur told a panel of politicians the island would have to follow the UK and raise the retirement age.
He suggested it could rise gradually from about 2020, starting at 66.
He also said there was an imbalance between men and women. The current retirement age in Jersey is 60 for women and 65 for men.
Senator Le Sueur told BBC Jersey: "It may well be many many years, if at all, before we reach 70.
"But we are continuing to live longer and if that trend continues for a generation or two then that figure of 70 may not appear as strong as it does now."(from BBC)
