L’ANCRESSE residents claim gorse clearing has left parts of the Common looking like a ‘bombsite’ and has devastated wildlife.
A large area has been cleared at La Moye and, while it is understood to have been a fire-safety precaution, residents are appalled at the move.
‘What has happened here is no less than vandalism on a scale that defies belief,’ said Graham Glass, whose property is closest to the area, leading up to Bunker Hill, around 50 yards away.
The heavy-handed approach, he said, had decimated the area.
