Let the Battle Commence
Musicians in Guernsey are being given the chance to play before live audiences in a new competition.
Every Thursday for five weeks, bands and performers will compete in heats, vying for a chance to appear in the final on the 5th December.
The competition has been organised by the Thomas De La Rue pub in St Peter Port.
Each band will play a 30 minute set in the heats of either original or cover music. The finalists will get a chance to perform for between 30 and 40 minutes. The winner stands to win £1,000 as well as being invited to record one of their tracks for Studio Jam on channelonline.tv.
Guernsey’s Culture & Leisure Minister Deputy Mike O’Hara said any opportunity for local bands to perform in public is welcome:
"We are blessed with enormous musical talent in Guernsey and for the Island’s young bands to perform in the “Battle of the Bands” is a superb opportunity not only for the bands but also for the public who I hope will support the event."
