Health and safety concerns shut Jersey charity shop Empty Health and safety concerns shut Jersey charity shop

A charity shop in Jersey has been forced to close because of health and safety concerns.
Cancer Research UK carried out a survey on the condition of the shop in St Helier and decided that it failed in a number of areas.
Simon O'Leary, Cancer Research UK head of volunteer fundraising, said they identified a number of gaps.
He said: "Working with the [local] committee, we came to the difficult decision to close the shop."
Mr O'Leary said he hoped it would be a temporary arrangement and that they would be trying to find solutions to reopen the shop.Typed note
A hand-written sign was posted on the window earlier saying the shop would be closed for the foreseeable future.
This was later replaced with a typed note asking people to give donations to alternative charity shops.
Cancer Research UK has some 900 volunteer fundraising groups and committees who fundraise within their local communities across the UK to support the charity.
In St Helier, the Jersey Cancer Research UK Volunteers Committee runs its own fundraising shop which is staffed by its volunteers.
It is operated independently of Cancer Research UK's chain of retail shops across the UK. (from BBC)
