People in Jersey are being warned not to give money to a bogus caller claiming to be collecting for charity.
The States of Jersey Police said they received several complaints about the man thought to be in his 40s or 50s.
The complaints have come from people living on Queens Road, St Aubins Road, Wellington Road, Mont Pinel and the Trinity area.
The man is described as slim with curly greying hair and indicates that he is deaf and mute when he asks for money.
He carries a cardboard box or carrier bag which he uses to collect donations.
Pc Jeremy House said: "It is important that people are not taken in by this type of scam, no official charity collector would come to your door to collect money in this way.
"Any person who has an honest reason to make calls to your door should have personal identification documents." (from BBC)
