Vibert quits JDA

The president of Jersey's only political party has quit.

Ted Vibert's depature is a bitter blow to the Jersey Democratic Party which he helped set up six years ago.

The former politician, who intends to stand for senator again this year has seen membership fall from 400 at its peak, to 50.

Mr Vibert's departure marks the second major set back for the party this year, after three of the four JDA elected politicians also quit.

Deputy Geoff Southern now remains the only member to sit in the States. He's holding a meeting tonight to consider the party's future. (from CTV)
