Town Shops Filling Up?
Town Shops Filling Up?
The large number of empty shops in St Peter Port are starting to fill up. Thats according to Jack Honeybill from the Town Centre Partnership. He's pleased with a recent surge in new businesses opening in Town. This week alone we've heard about a new clothes shop moving onto the High Street. A restaurant is launching in Market Square next week and the new M and S in the old Woolworths building is almost ready to launch.....taken fromc&w website
how can he say the shops are filling up....crew clothing was here before ,gbk took over a business that was still trading and the new m&s building has been known about for a long time..what about all the shops that are still empty..come on jack you are living in cloud cuckoo land

I agree thistle - He is living in dream land - I do not go to town often but last week when I did I was shocked at how many more shops are empty - it is more of a ghost town now than it ever was - I cant say the new m and s is going to tempt me at all. I would like to see more choice - that is why so many people know stick to going off island to shop or internet shopping.

Re: Town Shops Filling Up?
now marks and spencers are saying the smith street shop will move to the new high street one..that smith street will be used for sale goods for a short time and they are not prepared to say what willhappen in smith street next..it was my belief that marks and spencers homewares were going to smith street..at least that was what they said when they bought the woolworths building..makes me wonder if another store was going into woolworths building and they were outbid by creaseys

Re: Town Shops Filling Up?
He was letting out the shops to different artists and photographs to show off their stuff .this means the shops are being used but not rented out .big difference .

I am sorry to say that town is knackered , " when i was a boy " town was heaving what made it IMO was the arcade and the Market , sadly the Market is no longer , another wise decision from our states members .
