First ever Charity Awards Empty First ever Charity Awards

Post by GD Thu 01 Sep 2011, 6:22 pm

The first ever Jersey Charity Awards take place this weekend.

They aim to reward excellence within the charitable sector and take place on Sunday at Radier Manor.

There are three different Awards' categories: small charity of the year, medium charity of the year, and large charity of the year.

The event is supported by the Association of Jersey Charities.

Lyn Wilton from the AJC said: "It's so important that the achievements of the islands charitable sector are recognised and we hope these Awards will really raise awareness of just how much work is done for islanders by charities and their staff and volunteers, with so many people giving so much. We are delighted the Awards have had such a positive response and thanks go to everyone who has supported this new initiative."

45 charities have entered the awards and around 150 people are expected to attend the event, including the Bailiff and Chief Minister.
