Would-be Chief Minister: Improve services
A MAJOR shake-up of Jersey’s public services must begin within the next three years, according to aspiring Chief Minister Ian Le Marquand.
The current Home Affairs Minister, who is the only confirmed candidate for the top job when it is decided by the new House in November, believes the work must begin immediately to avoid government borrowing and higher taxes in the future.
As a result, if elected Chief Minister he would make it his number one priority.
Speaking to the JEP this week the Senator said the Island faced a ‘mound’ of challenges over the coming years, but sorting out the public service was particularly important and had to start right away.
‘If I was Chief Minister I would begin a major project of reform of the public sector,’ he said. (from JEP)
