Breaking News... Prince Philip taken to hospital with chest pains

LONDON (AP) -- British royal officials say Queen Elizabeth II's husband has been taken to the hospital after experiencing chest pains.

Buckingham Palace said Friday the Duke of Edinburgh was taken from Sandringham, the queen's sprawling estate in rural Norfolk, to the cardiac unit at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge for "precautionary tests."

Prince Philip, who is 90 years old, was at Sandringham for the royal family's Christmas festivities

The Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip is in hospital after having surgery for a blocked coronary artery, according to a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace.

The 90-year-old has a successful "invasive procedure of coronary stenting" at the UK's largest specialist cardiothoracic unit, Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. He is expected to stay in hospital for some time following the procedure.

Buckingham Palace said in a short statement: "Following tests at Papworth Cardiothoracic Hospital in Cambridge this evening the Duke of Edinburgh was found to have a blocked coronary artery which caused his chest pains.

Well, well, I am in good company ! I had the same procedure yesterday and I'm glad to say it certainly sorted me out and I came home this afternoon after spending the week in Hospital.

He still had to spend Xmas in hospital, poor sod, whereas I was lucky to recover quickly enough to escape on Xmas Eve. Four days is a long time to take to recover from that procedure, normally only takes 24 hours max.

Well done Kmk - hope you feel great - I think perhaps PP's 90 years of age might have been a contributing factor in the 4 days - and at that age I think a nice peaceful time in hospital might have been a welcome break :-))))
