Broken down cargo ship being towed
An Antiguan cargo ship has broken down in the Channel and is now adrift 11 miles off the coast of Guernsey.
The fully-loaded 185 metre long Federal Miramichi was headed to Brazil from St Petersburg.
It is carrying 20,000 tonnes of fertiliser and there are 21 people on board.
The French tug Abeillie Liberte is attempting to establish a tow.
The ship is heading towards Cherbourg, where they expect to arrive by 8am tomorrow.
Guernsey Coastguard will continue to monitor its progress.
thankyou to channeltelevision
