63000 Customers and what does Guernsey provide for them ? Not a lot that I can see.
Nearly all of the Island's tourist outlets are spread all over the Island, so there is little chance of many of the passengers getting to them.
A little creative thinking is required. For example the old Woolworth store could have been turned into a bazaar where all the outlets like the goldsmiths, woodcarvers, jewelry, clockmakers, fresias, woollens, dairy, pearls etc etc could have a showcase to display and sell their wares in a location accessible to these predicted 100,000 customers.
If you do lose your tax haven status you need to make more efforts with you tourist trade.

to start with we are not a tax haven ..this is what your politicians seem to think..our banks are transparent to various tax authorities including the uk.as for a bazzar we are not the uk as our island is a tad classier than england is.a bazzarin st peter port is ludicrous to even consider...might i also say that very few cruise liner passengers spend money onshore as they can buy things cheaper on board the ship x

Alright then call it a trade hall or whatever you like. ( Why do you regard bazaar as unclassy ? It's just another name for market )You need to centralize your outlets within reach of the harbour. It is a typical Guernsey attitude to assume that passengers don't buy anything, if you don't offer them anything they can't buy it can they.
Practically your whole economy is based on having lower taxes than the mainland of UK and Europe, therefore you are a tax haven. Pure and simple. Not that I see anything wrong with that.

Re: Nearly 80 cruise liners set to visit Guernsey in 2012
Many passengers go on a tour on a bus coach . other wonder around the town looking at the building and looking into the shops to by little bits
other have a guided tour with our walking guides this give them the hidtory of the island .this is what they want.
The tourist industry would make more if there was a place for them to dock.as they would have to pay for this .bringing in even more revenue .
but this is being looked at .
time will tell .we need to make sure the town where they land is looking at it best .this way they will come back to spend a few more days with us on another holiday .their first taste in most important
