St Helier hotels among 'most expensive' says travel firm
St Helier hotels are among the most expensive in Britain, according to an online travel firm.
The average price per night in the island's capital rose 5% last year to £110.
St Helier was the seventh costliest place to stay in the British Isles, according to Hotels.com.
Senator Lyndon Farnham, the head of Jersey's Hospitality Association, says a lot of smaller hotels and guest houses are not represented on the site.
He said: "Hotels.com is one of a number of online hotel booking sites that charge quite a large commission.
"The Jersey hotels that are on the website tend to be the four and five star market.
"So the average rate of £110 is very good value for hotels of that kind."
Matthew Walls, marketing director at Hotels.com said: "The price is the same as you would pay at the hotel or on any other hotel booking site."
He added: "The actual demand for hotels in Jersey is increasing quite significantly compared to other destinations in the UK.
"That's particularly the case for demand coming in from France and Germany."
