A Home For Asterix At Last
A Roman shipwreck found in Guernsey waters could finally be brought back to the island.
The Asterex was found in St Peter Port harbour on Christmas Day in 1982.
She was raised and taken to Portsmouth for preservation.
The vessels timbers have remained there ever since.
But now, thanks to a new planning application by Oatlands - the wreckage
could have a new home in the Bailiwick.
The owners of Oatlands want to build a new museum, the centre piece of
which would be the Asterix. The firm also wants to create a new
equestrian centre.

Re: A Home For Asterix At Last
A sprat to catch a mackerel here . good idea to update this place . we need attractions for visitors .shame they did not use the old strawberry farm for some other attraction . many old places around the island that could be used . it would cost a lot of money but would give visitors some other place to visit .
perhaps the visit Guernsey should take more interest here ,

thats true about strawberry farm kat ..its just sitting there unused and unloved..i would like to know if the states are expected to pay for any of this..i do think its a good idea but all that will save the tourist industry is cheaper fares ,vat free prices , more to do for families and cheaper places to stay ..
