Recycle your tree for Jersey Hospice Empty Recycle your tree for Jersey Hospice

Just over a week ago we were all enjoying Christmas day, feasting on turkey, opening all those presents and admiring our festive fir trees.

But this week many of us will be taking down our decorations - leaving us with the age old problem of what to do with that tree?

Well in both Jersey and Guernsey - there's a solution that is as green as the tree itself.

Volunteers are collecting islander's trees, in return for donations to Jersey Hospice.

Last year's collection saw 1,600 trees recycled - raising more than £24,000 for the charity.

From today Jersey's Hospice will start its Christmas tree collection scheme.

Last year volunteers collected more than 1,600 trees, raising more than £24,000 for the charity.

Registered Christmas trees will be collected from businesses on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd.

Home collection will take place over the weekend of 5th and 6th January.

Registration for business collections closes at 8pm on Wednesday 2nd January and registration for home collections closes at 8pm on Thursday 3rd January.

More information can be found at Jersey Hospice's website.
