A senior politician in Guernsey has said the government is doing what it can to protect air links with Gatwick.
With Flybe ending its operation, the States-owned Aurigny will be the only airline operating the London service.
Public Services Minister Paul Luxon said the States has lobbied the UK government for recognition of the Bailwick's air links.
The subject will also be discussed with Lord Faulks - the new UK minister responsible for the Crown Dependencies.
Mr Luxon said he supported comments made recently by the Guernsey International Business Association and Institute of Directors regarding the importance of the Gatwick link.
The route currently accounts for £3.2m - nearly 30% - of Guernsey Airport's annual turnover.
