Treasure hunt could lead to ownership dispute
The States of Guernsey could become embroiled in dispute over the ownership of sunken treasure with an estimated value of £200million.
High profile US treasure hunters are heading to the channel islands in search of a sunken ship with a cargo of gold, silk, pearls and precious stones.
La Virage was sunk by privateers in 1666.
Now, Florida based company Odyssey Marine Exploration are planning to find and salvage the wreck.
But if they do, there could be an argument over who is the rightful owner.
Guernsey's harbour master Captain Peter Gill thinks it could lead to a fascinating legal case. (from Island FM)
