Alderney could go smoke free
Alderney could soon follow in Guernsey's footsteps by introducing a smoking ban.
A progress update will go to the island's states meeting this month after enabling legislation was approved in April.
The enabling law is now awaiting royal assent, but once it's got that the States look set to pursue smoking restrictions in public places.
At this month's states meeting members will also get an update on discussions on extending Alderney's territorial waters from 3 to 12 miles.
The issues caused concern in Guernsey because of it's impact on fishing, but in Alderney there are also concerns it could affect tidal power generation once it comes on stream. (from thisisguernsey)

Or buy the States a new calculator and chart or easier, point them here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alderney
Seriously though, will they not have to take into account the French territorial waters too??
