Apart from Pete Doherty, I havent a clue who they are but I am sure the concert will be good for the youngsters, would like to see something for the older ones and families though

Well done to the organisers for giving it a go.

I understand this point of view, but I'm not sure why it wouldnt be a family day out, I'm intending to take my daughter (during the afternoon at least)

Anyway, why shouldnt the 'youth' have something of their own, an event that reflects their culture and brings people of ages (14 - 35 mainly I guess) together.Th Vale Earth Fair is also a family day out as is the local summer shows and various other events held over the summer months, choice and variety is there - very healthy for a small island I would say.

I think this is a very postive event for the Island and if all goes well long may it continue.

I think a Family Day Out to us older ones means something different than it does to the younger ones, I am thinking of somthing more on the lines of the Party in the Park when Leo Sayer was on the bill not that I am thinking of him but that day there were people from the age of 6 months to 80+ there, thats my idea of a family day out.

This is great for the under35s and a few old uns that still think they are 18.

Perhaps not, but reasonable compared to similar events in the UK.

I really dont see why it has to be a family day out anyway. If the older generation want something like Party in the Park then find someone to organize - is there a genuine want/need for it?.Because there certainly is for Guernsey Live.I feel a hint of resentment going on here....

I dont think he's any worse than the Stones or Beatles were in their heyday (both Lennon & Richards were ferocious herion addicts remember).Maybe we (I dont mean me) shouldnt pay too much attention to the red tops SHOCK/HORROR headlines in future.

Doherty maybe be a bit of an overrated twerp to some but to others he's an inspirational songwriter & poet - with or without drugs.

Anyway, it's all about ROCK N' ROLL! Get rid of this middle-class safety net role model attitude.

Well Pete Doherty's not making it over now due to his 14 week incarceration for breaking bail conditions. He will also miss shows at the Royal Albert Hall & Glastonbury.

No doubt this will give much smugness to all the 'told-you-so's' out there.

Shame, I think. However I'm not sure he was headline material as a solo performer, early evening would have been more apt. So we now await to see who the organisers find to fill the Sunday headline slot. It's a great oppertunity to find a great act that perhaps isnt as niche as Pete.

We shall see.

As ever, I'll will keep the forum updated.I'm bloody good like that.

Another blow? What were the others, I missed that?

Typical response if you dont mind me saying.

The fact that Biffy Clyro & the Guillemots have been added to the bill in recent days is excellent news. But people dont like to mention that do they? You'll find that most people arent overly fussed about Pete Doherty (solo) not playing anyway.Plus this happens to festivals all the time - what they do is pick another act to play - pretty simple eh?

As I said in a previous post, the told-you-so brigade are enjoying smugtime.

£200,000 loss, I really cannot see the Organisers standing another loss like this, plus this it without the cost of policing, which is yet to be revealed and be payed for by the taxpayer's
Sorry even after the comment in the press from the Organiser that they may look at coming back again I cannot see that happening..
