Bullying in our schools

I am light years older than you GG - but even way back in the dark ages :-) bullying existed - usually perpeptrated by people who bulliy others to make themselves look big (too ignorant to know that they just made themselves look mean minded and petty, which of course they are) ....is there absolutely no-one you can speak to???? your parents maybe???? headmaster???? some form master to relate to???? surely someone will do something.....tell them it's making you so miserable you feel unable to attend school!!! If you can't do a face to face - write a letter to your headmaster/mistress they must be made aware of what's happening......and yes I do know it easier said than done.......but whenever bullies are stood up to, by their very nature they back down, they have no real substance, you are giving it to them by being affected!!!! try, please try to break the circle :(

Saddened to hear of your troubles at school. Bullies are only strong when together picking on people who are weaker or cleverer then them. Please don't let these a#######s grind you down to the point that your future will be affected. Try to speak to someone parents doctor or maybe contact education dept or Dep Steer direct.
I wish you the best of luck because you are so much better then them.

gsyguy you are so much better than these bullies.stand by the courage of your convictions.so you are gay what the heck i have some great friends who are gay both male and female and i would trust them with my life.one like you is young and was bullied at school too.he is a fantastic guy and we meet up regularily for coffee and a chat.he went through what you are going through at the moment but he has come out of it at the other end.he has a job and is doing very well in life despite the bullies.if there is anything i can do to help please let me know .

My children came yo me and said that they were being bullied on the bus to school because
A) they had Italian Parents and
B) they went to a Private School
I listen to their compaints, asked them if they had a problem with being my children or going to a good school...
and since they were ok with that I told them" In that case, this is not your problem...these kids that tease you have the problem, 'cause they have narrow minded parents that have raised them that way.
I feel sorry for them and you should too!
I never hear another complaint out of them...oooh yes they were still being tease, but they had learned a valuble lesson...and because they never reacted, I suppose, it took the pleasure of teasing out of the bullies and eventually it just stopped>

This Is Not YOUR Problem! I know it hurts...I know it feels very uncomfortable. It is definately Not nice or acceptable...but you are Ooooh so much better than they are...so why worry about the scum of life??? you need to keep your sight right up there, were you want to be. You can do it! I am standing in your corner!

And believe me GG if you have my friend Anomiso in your corner - you are definitely covered!!!!! She is mother to three and grandmother to 9 (mags as in Magnificent 7 + 2) one of which is going to need her advice when she gets older as she is from Ethiopia - right now very very cute and beautiful at 4 (like people love kittens and puppies) but the day is drawing near when the difference between her skin colour and theirs is going to pointed out to them in no uncertain terms.......probably by a parent or two, with little understanding or compassion!!! so listen to her - she has been where you are and is alive and well and very very happy!!!!!

I tell you something i am glad i signed up to this site.
Now i Feel i have more friends on the net then wat i do in real life (which is probs true).

Okay GG let's cut the smiley faces, hugs and kisses, and face reality. Your gay, you are fair game for someone to pick on. You are different from the majority, but that is not a crime and it is not a show stopper but throughout life you will come across people who will pick on you. That's not right, but it is life, do not expect that having a good job will change that, but it will help.

At the moment you are young and immature (that is not a critiscism it is a fact) as you get older you will learn skills to cope and how to avoid people that cause you pain and you will be in an adult world where people are less viscious verbally. But at the moment you need some help. A lot of what has been said on this forum is well meaning and will give a warm fuzzey feeling but I can not see it helping in the long term.

I have to watch how I phrase my next comment (I can hear a lot saying "why you haven't bothered up to now") Thistle has offered to help, otherwise I would not suggest this, perhaps she would be able to invite you to her next coffee with her friend which I think would be appropriate. It is always good to talk to people and to see how they have coped to realise you are not alone. A difficult one, but have you talked to your parents. If you have not they would be mortified to find out that you have poured your heart out on a public forum but not approached them.

Sorry to be a bit cruel but I have not said anything that you didn't know. I hope you sort something out and in my experience 5 years from now you will look back and realise it was not as bad as you thought.

Talking to your parents has to be a priority and it had already been suggested...
Yes , we offered sympathy and hugs because we felt that that was what was needed...and his parents may well feel mortified but...talking to stranger, especially people that you cannot see, is always easier and
I feel that GG feels a lot more relieved by the telling!
He has taken the first step, I am sure that he will find the courage to talk to his parents too
You are also right when you state that in 5 years time , looking back...but NOW he is hurting, the "stiff upper lip" will come...I am sure that none of us was born with one! :)

GG has tried talking to other people plimmerton.i would be more than happy to meet up with him for a chat as i am sure my young friend would. this young lad is feeling very vulnerable and alone and as anomiso has said none of us were born with stiff upper lips.we are all a lot older than GG and have learned a bit about life along the way.unfortunately bullying in schools and the workplace has been going on for years and even now teachers wont admit it is happening in their school.i would even be happy to speak to deputy steere on GG's behalf if he would care to pm me the detatils of the school etc.

From experience with my kids approaching the school will not be much help unless GG is prepared to take very strong and drastic action which will bring many things out in the open. I sorted my problem out after my good lady took the softly softly approach and spoke nicely to the school. When I got fed up my approach was a bit different but it worked, and it was legal. I wouldn't rely on a politician to sort out the problem unless I had some heavy support and a 16 year old does not have that sort of punch.

I would suggest that there is more bothering GG than the bullying, I may be wide of the mark but if he can come to terms with the cause of the bullying, why he is different and be at ease with himself or even proud of his uniqueness then the verbals will not hurt and when they hurt no more the bullies will get tired because there is no reaction.

For me I would contact the helplines and then get help from my family. If one is frightened of what the parents may say approach an aunt or uncle or respected family friend and get help from them to see the best way to broach the subject with the parents.

Remember that at whatever age you are, you are never too old to seek help. And no matter what age you are you should never be alone.
