Assessment of respite care needed
A full assessment of respite care facilities for people with disabilities needs to take place, Guernsey's health and social services minister has said.
It follows a call from charity Caring for Carers for more support for people who care for family members.
Hunter Adam said he appreciated concerns that young people are forced to use residential facilities that cater predominately for the elderly.
The minister said he feels this could be improved on in the future.
Two major capital projects to improve facilities and reduce the need to use off-island care are currently awaiting capital prioritisation. (from BBConline)
