LOSING AIR AND SEA LINKS IS BAD FOR 'ISLAND'S CREDIBILITY' Empty LOSING AIR AND SEA LINKS IS BAD FOR 'ISLAND'S CREDIBILITY'

If you've lost out from a travel operator cancelling links from the island…, Commerce and Employment want to know. Flybe confirmed last week they were scrapping their service to Paris for the winter. It follows the loss of their routes to Manchester and Norwich. Meanwhile, HD Ferries still haven't confirmed they'll resume their service in the spring. Deputy Commerce and Employment Minister Robert Sillars says having so little security when it comes to links is bad for the island's credibility. The department's written to Flybe asking why they didn't give more notice the Paris route was being terminated. They're still waiting for a response but Deputy Sillars says islanders caught out by operators should let them know, so Commerce and Employment have more 'ammunition' when they get into talks. He says the way they're dropping services can't continue.taken from c&w website
