Islanders elect new States member
Islanders have elected a new States member in the Alderney by-election.
Tony Llewellyn polled 222 votes - almost half the total ballots cast on Saturday.
The retired chartered engineer said he intended to keep local issues in the picture and to improve Alderney's infrastructure and community relations.
Mr Llewellyn will replace Richard Cox, who resigned earlier this year halfway through his term. He will hold the position until December 2010.
Turnout in the by-election was about 37%, with 476 of the island's 1,272 eligible electorate voting.
The three unsuccessful candidates were Lois Fitzgerald, Martin Hunt and Geoffrey Sargent. (BBC News)
