ISLANDERS will be able to change mobile phone companies and take their existing numbers with them from next month.
It has been confirmed by the telecoms regulator that mobile number portability will become a reality on 1 December and Islanders will effectively own their number after that date.
And it is likely to signal phone wars between Jersey Telecom (Wave), Airtel Vodafone and Sure mobile as they battle for customers in the run-up to Christmas.
For those who switch operator, it will take two days to complete the exercise but it will be a free service, with the phone companies picking up the bill. (from thisisjersey)

As I see it, the only disadvantage customers moving from Sure Mobile for a better deal will face is that the other network providers coverage is not as extensive.

For the mainstream I'm sure that this will not be a problem.

On the upside, moving to Wave or Airtel Vodafone will at least provide a 3G service - something that Sure has been unable to secure and even looks doubtful in the short term.

With Airtel only charging 1p per Mb for data, you can't go wrong!

i will change for certain.lets hope that this competition involves driving prices down. remember if you are changing operators do so with no or very little credit on pay as you go as you lose what is on your phone.
