8.5 Miles of roadworks next year !!
Drivers in Guernsey are facing months of misery after a massive resurfacing project was revealed.
More than eight-and-a-half miles of tarmac will be dug up next year.
It means that for most of 2009 there will be roads closed across the island.
The first closure starts on 5th January when the South Esplanade will
be closed from the Church to the Val Des Terres for six weeks.
The closure will be in stages and PSD is hoping it can avoid major disruption.
College Street will be closed for eight weeks from the middle of
February. The top of the Grange will be closed too, but that won't be
until next September and it will be for a week and half.
The biggest problems out of town will be Braye Road, closing for five
weeks at the end of May, and in Les Effards and Baubigny area in the
summer.
In all, PSD will be resurfacing more than eight and half miles of road
throughout the year at 41 different sites. There will be a short break
of no work going on at the end of August but apart from that there'll
be resurfacing going on pretty much all year round.
I thought we were going headlong into a credit crunch ! , at least Ronez will be busy.

Seeing we have to keep Ronez in work lets let them leave the roads for a year and let them build the new runway with the money!
Then everyone would be happy. well apart form the staff who would have a year of night work!
