Ancient legislation could remain
Ministers say Jersey should keep an ancient law that makes landlords responsible for the damage their tenants do to other people's property.
The Council of Ministers will be rejecting a proposal from Senator Ben Shenton to scrap voisinage.
He said the cost of defending yourself is beyond the reach of most people.
There have only been about five or six cases in the past 20 years but the Council of Ministers say the law gives islanders other important rights.
They say for example that voisinage means there is legal support for owners of buildings if a neighbouring building faces demolition. (BBC News)
Seems pretty fair law to me.
