The 2009 Guernsey Telephone Directory is out
More than 45,000 copies of the book, now in its 103rd edition, will be given out over the next three weeks, with most being collected from distribution points around the island. However in the first five days, 20,000 will be delivered to local businesses and homes that have previously requested a copy.
The pink section will once again contain a ‘reverse’ look-up index for UK area codes, in addition to the traditional alphabetical listings. This year the directory will contain contact details for all of the island’s deputies. This was not possible last year as elections were going on as the book went to print and the new members’ details were not available at the time of printing.
Sure editorial manager Laura Jeffrey said the information in the directory was being gathered right up until going to print, making it the most up to date phone book in the island. ‘We are always keen to keep the book as refreshed as possible and are constantly updating our information. It went into production only a few weeks ago and therefore numbers for business and residential are as up to date as they can possibly be,’ she said.
The directory is 100% recyclable, as was last year’s, and Sure is encouraging islanders to dispose of any old 2008 book in the paper bring banks around the island. ‘We are very conscious of the environmental aspect, which is why the directory carries the Swan Mark. This signifies that all the materials that are used in the book and its packaging can be recycled, and we hope that as many customers as possible take advantage of these facilities,’ said Mrs Jeffrey.
The collection points for the new directories will be at Checkers, Admiral Park, Checkers Express in St Martins and St Peter’s, Safeway Superstore, Alliance Cash & Carry, and Cable & Wireless at Centenary House in La Vrangue. Customers wishing to collect more than 100 directories should contact Sure on 757367. (from )
