Shellfish warning
A MAJOR investigation is being carried out after the reported discovery of e-coli and norovirus in oysters farmed off the Island’s east coast.
Human effluent is believed to be the cause of the poisoning, but the source of the sewage has not yet been found. A number of oyster beds have been downgraded, and a warning has been issued to Islanders not to eat raw shellfish collected from the sea.
Environment and health expert Professor David Kay flew into the Island yesterday to meet officials and shellfish farmers to begin an urgent assessment of the threat.
Officers from the water resources section of the Environmental Protection Department have been monitoring sewage outfalls from Bellozanne to Gorey Castle. (from thisisjersey)

Or join me!!!! I am expecting to go down with 'mad cauliflower syndrome' any day soon - due to the amount of pesticides legally allowed to be used on fruit and veggies!!!! Oh well if a poisoned Oyster doesn't get you - maybe the Cauliflower Cheese will!!!!

Re: Shellfish warning
Maybe Jersey needs a state-of-the-art sewage treatment system like we have.
