Half-Way Cafe/Friar Tucks to close
Another local small business is set to close,
The Half-Way Cafe is closing due to the fact that the owner cannot get long-term housing licence's
It seems a shame, but surely that with the number of unemployed, that someone could be taught the jobs needed at this establishment

The real truth is that the property is worth more as housing. Remember the Northside Cafe?

I find it incredible that no local staff can be found in the current climate. The business only changed hands in the last few years I seem to remember, and I suspect the current owner intended to try this all along.
It shouldn't be allowed, but there again if it's good enough for Tom Scott it should be good enough for anybody. There is clearly a danger of setting precedents when handing out favours to the rich.

Real shame to see another small local business closing down.
There are fewer and fewer more 'traditional' places, such as the 'greasy spoons' left anymore for people to go and have a decent plateful of grub at realistic prices. Just look at St Peter Port now, it all seems to be changing to more 'up-market' establishments that charge a lot more money for less.
