I seem to think I've heard that name before somewhere. Or is it a common Guern name ?

Re: Driver Killed in Road Accident
I have heard that the driver was a retired cop if that means anything to readers.

Re: Driver Killed in Road Accident
Surely, if it were, then the local media would be putting headlines such as "local cop killed in crash" or similiar?
I do believe that your information may be incorrrect plimmerton...

How much do you want to bet, my informant is very good but i shall make some other enquiries, remember I said retired cop, you have misquoted me or are you predicting what the press may say.

Re: Driver Killed in Road Accident
Ahhhh.... should have said "ex-cop", brain and hands / keyboard obviously not connected first thing!!!
Yeah, I was suggesting what the press may have said if he were an ex-cop. It is what they would tend to do......

Re: Driver Killed in Road Accident
They may not have connected and he has not been a front line cop for many years and really it has no bearing on his demise. Perhaps they (the press) are reporting in a responsible manner after all they wouldn't say "A retired accountant was found dead in his car following a road accident"

Re: Driver Killed in Road Accident
Wouldn't they? I think it is fair to say that the Press does come out with random or even bizarre headlines from time to time that can leave you with a bemused expression. Often, these are of the sensational 'red-top' gutter press variety of comment...
Anyway, it matters not, what matters is that this is a tragic incident involving a middle aged man (whatever his former occupation) and, I think you will agree with me here plimmerton, we should be mindful of his family and friends, and consider their feelings at what will be a difficult time for them all.

Re: Driver Killed in Road Accident
Dell, I have just had it confirmed from another source that it was not the ex cop so I was wrong, doesn't happen often, but there is always the first time. My first source will be getting a right royal kick. Apologies for spreading rumour and speculation and I condemn the press for doing similar!!

Re: Driver Killed in Road Accident
I put feelers out the day after the accident to find out if it was the guy I knew ( ex forensic photographer) and it was confirmed that it was NOT him.

Re: Driver Killed in Road Accident
Glad we cleared that one up guys......
As I said previously, what matters is that this is a tragic incident involving a middle aged man and we should be mindful of his family and friends, and consider their feelings at what will be a difficult time for them all.
Let us rest with that and leave this post to fade away....
