L’Hyvreuse widening ‘is for the skatepark and Les Cotils’

RESIDENTS of L’Hyvreuse say the road could be resurfaced without having to be widened.
Neighbours spoke out after Public Services announced plans to tarmac a large adjoining strip of Cambridge Park, saying the move was necessary for the resurfacing work to be completed.
But Sheila Maubec, who has lived in the road for about five years, said this was the latest battle facing residents after recent plans to build a skatepark at Beau Sejour and develop a new constables’ office at Les Cotils.
The 57-year-old said the vast majority of residents were opposed to all of the plans.
‘We are not in favour of the skateboard park,’ she said. ‘We and our neighbours on the terrace were all furious about the idea of the skateboard park.
‘We didn’t even know about it until the constables took it upon themselves to ask us for our opinion. I wrote a long letter about it, which the constables then asked if they could pass on to Environment.
‘That was quite a long time ago, though, and we have not heard anything else about it.’
Mrs Maubec said she was worried that PSD plans to widen the road were connected to objections regarding the skatepark.
‘I just have this nasty feeling that they knew one of the objections to the skateboard park would be about access,’ she said. (from thisisguernsey)

I think it was cause even more problems in that aera..

close the road completely with no access and left all folks walk along the avenue and enjoy the walk in the park! after all it is summer

Perhaps I am being obtuse but surely if you close the road down half it's length and resurface,when done,the other half this would allow access at all times but a bit of inconvenience for the residents.Job done! Or am I being simplistic?

That's how they do it in the UK. Over there it would be done in a fraction of the time too and without the ripples.

I too am somewhat skeptical about these announcements and suspect that there is a 'hidden agenda' or an ulterior motive here.

Why does the road need to be widened now? Timing is everything and must be connected to the other plans for this area, including extending facilities at Les Cotils.
