Ex-millionaire in fear for his life
A JERSEY entrepreneur is under police protection in the Island after an associate was executed in a gangland-style killing on the other side of the world.
Former millionaire Mark Burby (41) contacted States police after hearing about the gunning down of property developer Michael McGurk, who was shot last Thursday in front of his nine-year-old son in Sydney.
Mr Burby was due to fly to Australia to appear as a witness in a civil case brought by Mr McGurk that related to the Brunei royal family.
The Islander’s lawyer had contacted Mr McGurk’s legal team to check on the case’s progress last week when he was told the news.
Mr Burby said that he then contacted the States police straight away for advice on protection.(from JEP)
