SINGLE MOTHERS COULD BE HIT BY PROPOSED BENEFITS CUT..

Single mums on benefit will be the first to see changes as Social Security
embark on an overhaul of the benefits system.

SSD have begun a major review, so far talks have been held with Jersey and
they've also looked into the UK's tax credit system.

Although the investigation is still in its early stages, one area has already
stood out.

Later this month, Social Security will recommend all single mothers with
children over the age of 12, have their supplementary benefits stopped
completely.

The only exception to this plan, which could take affect in 2010, will be
those mothers who are suffering from illness.

Its thought the move will affect around 50 mums in the island.

But SSD Minsiter Mark Dorey says they have nothing to worry about, as the SSD
will help them get into the workplace.

many builders / manual workers havnt had a wage rise this year and in some cases a wage reduction.

bet they wish they got a 2% rise.

wow they should keep the unemployment the same you don't get much as it
is £126 a week doesn't go very far when you have bills to pay once the
bills have come out of that your left with nothing for yourself

You're not boxing clever - you need to have a few kids then the smokes and booze can come out of the kids allowance :-)
